A Memorial gathering held on Sunday, November 16th at Memorial Hall in
Bonners Ferry was a lovely tribute to the lives of Karl and Marisa, spoken
through the touching words, thoughts, and music of the many who attended.
Vicki Blake and the Children’s Choir sang a beautiful song entitled “Hope”,
and friends and family shared stories, with thoughts and remembrances that
were happy, sad, and sometimes even humorous. Local musician Kathy O’Leary
provided lovely music before and at the close of the services. Even young
Louis Balcaen and his small sister sang a French song in a tender tribute.
The tradition and meaning of drinking yerba mate tea was explained for those
unfamiliar with it, and in memory hot tea was provided along with the many
potluck offerings. Karl and Marisa’s connection with the community, friends,
and family was all very evident in this gathering- they will be remembered
forevermore in our hearts.
We will continue to post here any possible future gatherings in memory of
Karl and Marisa.

This page is a dedication to the lives of Karl Heiss and Marisa Bauducco-Heiss, husband and wife who were taken from us far too soon in an accident on October 3, 2008. They were nurturing and devoted parents with a love and commitment for their two surviving children as strong as their love and commitment to each other. In an effort to find a way to make sense of this tragedy we have created this space to remember and tell stories, to share and to grieve. As their precious children recover physically and emotionally we send all our love to cradle and protect them.
